I always feel this way about babies. Their love is entirely unconditional, given freely with no judgement. There are very few things in this world, I’ve found, that can make you feel warmer and fuzzier inside than a baby who makes eye contact with you and then gives you a big, gummy grin. It makes my heart stutter every time a client comes in for a Baby’s First Year session and gives me a big smile, though I often haven’t seen them in four months. I have such an amazing job. Thank you to my parent clients who allow me to capture their children’s lives. It is such a joy!

The baby Longhorn has arrived (for those of you who remember his maternity session)! Little Will is long and slim, and definitely gonna be a tall dude like his daddy, though he looks exactly like his mama! His (four-legged) big sister Maggie likes to keep a watchful eye, and I cannot wait to see how they interact with each other as he gets bigger and wants to play! Will was so awake at his newborn session; completely calm, just wide awake and taking it all in. He always looks very serious, even at his ordering appointment he had his brow scrunched up. As his mom says, “He’s an old soul.” LOVE that! I definitely agree with her every time I look into those deep blue eyes!

Christmas Tree Mini-Sessions include up to 2 children (you can do a full session if you’ve got more than 2 kiddos), a 20-minute mini-session in your home at dusk, and one 8×10 gift print. These mini-sessions are $140, and you will have the option to purchase other prints and to use one picture on a pre-designed holiday card if you wish. We’ll only be doing 7 of these mini-sessions between December 2nd and 11th (and one is already booked), so let us know if you’d like to reserve yours!
nathan is one year old!!! {New Orleans child photographer}
Little Nathan is one year old already, and I used to think he looked exactly like his daddy. But at this session, I really feel like I can see a lot of his mama in him now, too. He’s the perfect combo of both! His big (four-legged) sister Cassie was also in our pictures, and she was super cooperative helping her little brother stand up. They are so sweet together — she’s such a good dog and Nathan loves her so much!

Little (big!) William’s mama was a rock star, she went to a Saints game literally the DAY before she went into labor, past her due date! She thinks all that walking around downtown might have helped him decide to make his entrance into the world. William has the MOST adorable button nose, don’t you think? He was very good for his session, awake for pictures with Mama and family shots, asleep when we needed his posed shots, and flashing us a BIG grin in between! A newborn photographer can’t ask for more than that! 🙂

Miss Vivian is so perfectly petite, and she has the most perfectly round head I’ve ever seen on a newborn! 🙂 She also has an adorable button nose, the lightest fluff of hair and eyelashes, and the tiniest fingernails (especially the pinkies!) you’ve ever seen. I just adore her. The angel on her mama’s charm bracelet has a very special meaning, and we have a shot of the “LOVE” charm on that bracelet with Mama’s belly from her maternity session…so we had to take a shot of the angel charm with Miss Vivian once she arrived. I am really in love with this sweet family, and I enjoy every minute I get to spend with them. I can’t wait for Vivian’s 4 month session — she’s the boss of the household already, and I know she’s going to have some amazing expressions to show me!!!

Mr. Simon is already 8 months old!!! He’s SUCH a ham and a flirt, as I believe you can see from these pictures. He LOOOOOOOOVES his mama, and if she’s holding him, all is well in his world. He had a split second of hesitation when we put him on the floor, but I asked Mom to sit down outside the frame with him. Once he saw she wasn’t going anywhere, he was set. And man, he turned it on. Giggling, clapping, sucking on that lip, laughing, and just basically being the sweet, happy, adorable baby that he is. LOVE him!!!
the birth of caelen… {New Orleans birth photographer}
I got the call that M and D were headed to the hospital late in the evening, and I headed over to Ocshner in the wee hours of the morning, once Mom was in active labor. There were still a couple of hours before sunrise, and it was very calm and quiet in the room as this sweet couple tried to get a little rest before the day began. Slowly Mom progressed to full dilation, but we needed to wait awhile yet for the baby to move down. When the sun came up, family visited for a few hours, and then hospital staff got things prepped for a delivery! Sweet Caelen arrived a very healthy 8 pounds and 11 ounces, with a lusty newborn howl. I photographed this family for maternity portraits (and newborn session to come), and they have so. much. love. Really, there was nothing but love in that room. Well, maybe some relief that Caelen was finally here, but otherwise all love!
Marin and Darren, it has been an honor and a pleasure. Thank you for letting me document this life-changing event, and I’ll see you in a week for our newborn session! 🙂

Meet sweet Jane. I love her, and her awesome family — I’m so glad they called me up to photograph Jane’s first year (and her brother’s 2-year-old pictures next month)! She was a darling and slept nearly her entire session, obligingly opening her bright eyes for family pictures. She looks EXACTLY like her adorable brother, which I didn’t really notice while I was with her — but prepping her photos for edit afterward, I could definitely see a perfectly petite little girl version of her brother. He is so sweet and gentle with her, I loved photographing them together. I can’t wait to see them again at his 2-year-old session in a few weeks, and Jane’s 4 month session a little while after that!
charlie at 4 months… {New Orleans baby photographer}
Little Charlie is 4 months old — and he is NOT little!!! He has older twin brothers who were wearing the clothes he’s in now when they were 8 months old! He is such a little monkey, I love his expressions. He’s so FUNNY! He’s got beautiful blue eyes and he’s so super-happy, it took us a little while to get his unhappy face for his Expressions Collage. I get to photograph his brothers next week for their 3rd birthday! I love this family!

Little Ava looks JUST like her big sister Isabella, but was much calmer for her newborn session than her sister was a little over a year ago. 🙂 She’s SOOOO sweet and lovable, and I adore her family. Isa is busy taking care of her baby, and is still mastering the art of giving her sister the paci — which she’s really good at for less than a year and a half old! Isa still has her own paci, and we had a moment when we were getting pictures of both girls together when Ava was screaming and Isa was NOT wanting to sit with her for more than 5 seconds at a time. So we tried giving Isa something to do: giving Ava the paci. But Ava wouldn’t take it and Isa was just so conflicted, knowing that it wasn’t her paci but really wanting to put it in her own mouth anyway. She resisted the temptation, amazingly — that’s some serious self-restraint for a toddler!!! Isa has been a total daddy’s girl until Ava came along, but now that Ava is here she wants Mama ALL the time. Luckily Ava is so laid back she doesn’t seem to mind!!!
conner’s 1 year session at the beach…{New Orleans baby photographer}
Mr. Conner has turned 1 year old, so we went to his family’s beach house in Mississippi for these pictures. His mommy and daddy took their engagement photos there, too, so I thought it was the perfect location! I ADORE the first picture of him with his (persnickety) older four-legged sister, Stella. She is just not really into the crawling/toddling baby thing, and I can just hear her thinking, “He’s touching me, he’s touching me…HELLO, WHAT are you going to do about this?!?!” Conner, on the other hand, looks so proud of himself! He is a happy little explorer, and we put a sailor suit on him at the end because his daddy sails competitively. Doesn’t he look like the perfect first mate in it? 🙂

Baby Briggs is the handsome son of a close friend who lives in Mississippi, so I only get to see him every couple of months. And as I’m getting busier and busier, I seem to be losing all track of time. All of my Baby’s First Year babies seem to be growing SO QUICKLY and I can hardly believe it each time a milestone comes around for each of them…but Briggs already turning 4 months old (GASP!) is really throwing me for a loop. I was JUST at the hospital on his Birth Day, I swear!!! And we JUST took newborn pictures!!! But no, he’s getting so big, so quickly. And I’m sure I’m going to BLINK and he’ll be in my studio for his 8 month session. But enough nostalgia…here’s Briggs at 4 months. He’s such a HAPPY baby, I didn’t even really get an “upset” face for our Expressions Collage we do at this age. His daddy stood to the side and made him laugh, which I loved because that’s exactly what we did to make Briggs’ big sister laugh for her 4 month session closeups — brought in Daddy. How I love this sweet family, who are such truly BEAUTIFUL people, inside and out.

Miss Abby Jean is a tiny little beauty, and has a four-legged, furry sister who is not quite sure about her. Big sister Edie is VERY protective of the baby — it took a full five minutes of my petting, her sniffing, Dad soothing, and more sniffing of me for Edie to decide that it was ok that I was entering her house. From then on out, through the next 3 hours, each time I entered the room wherever the baby was, Edie barked and let me know she was watching me. The funny part was that Edie wasn’t actually sure how she felt about Abby Jean yet. Babies can be smelly, loud, and they need a lot of attention from their parents — and Edie just didn’t quite know how to feel about that yet! It was hilarious. Check out the last picture: we laid Abby Jean down in front of Edie (while Dad sternly told Edit to “stay”), and AJ started the “newborn squall,” as I call it — and Edie is looking at her like some kind of alien has been placed in front of her and she’s not allowed to move away. It’s HILARIOUS! Anyway, Abby Jean has SO much personality already, I can’t wait to see her at her 4 month session!!!

Miss Bradley was a few weeks old at her first session, and her mama wanted to capture both her and how sweet her brothers are with her at this age. Bradley is so sweet and calm, she was quite laid back for her session and didn’t fuss at all. Her brothers are HILARIOUS, endlessly entertaining, and I’m sure at least one of them will end up on a stage one day. We sang the entire soundtrack to GREASE! while we shot the boys with their baby sister. Just AWESOME!
tilly’s christening… {New Orleans photographer}
Miss Tilly was christened in the dress that both her mother and her grandmother wore for their christenings. It’s so beautiful and special, just like little Til! She was so funny during the christening, throwing her arms up like she was feelin’ Jesus and reaching for the water like she wanted to dive in (though getting it poured on her head was another story). The sweet ceremony was followed by a lovely reception at the Country Club (there’s a picture of Tilly’s mama on the wall as a debutante!) where Tilly stayed the laughing, happy baby she nearly always is, even with skipping her normal nap. I love her!

Miss Tilly is eight months old already!! She has the BLUEST blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Her mama is from Houston and wanted to have Tilly’s christening there, so they flew me to Houston for Tilly’s 8 month session Friday night and her christening on Saturday morning. We did these at the Houston Arboretum, and aren’t they gorgeous? Tilly is such a happy baby and let us change her several times, even though it was late and SUPER hot. I absolutely LOVE her! Nette, I’ll put up her christening preview soon — for now, enjoy these! Miss Tilly is absolutely ADORABLE!!!

newborn luke…{New Orleans newborn photographer}
I got to photograph sweet little Luke’s birth a few weeks ago, and we did his newborn session at one week old. His mama labored a long time with him, and we were all so excited when he finally arrived! He’s SO sweet, and eating a TON, and when he got fussy at his session only Grandma could calm him back down (unless Mama was nursing, of course!). We got some beautiful nursing shots as well at this session. His older sisters are hilarious, and one of them wrote in her journal “HE IS BORN!!! HIS NAME IS LUKE OLIVER!” (Her journal was open to that page, we didn’t snoop!) It was so reminiscent of Gabriel’s heralding of the baby Jesus, it made me laugh out loud! I was so happy to meet you, Luke, and I’m so glad I’ll get to photograph you growing up!

Miss Virginia was around 6 weeks old for her session, so she was plump and already very expressive! She has the most beautiful lips and big, bright eyes. She can’t STAND to have a wet or dirty diaper, and wants to be changed immediately…though who can blame her? Isn’t she gorgeous? 🙂

This beautiful family includes not only Miss Lucy, but 3 furry family members, too! And all 4 babies have unique, distinctive personalities. Lu is hilarious, super-busy and determined to explore. She loves her pups, especially her retriever rescue Coco. I LOVE the picture of the two of them with their tongues out!! I also love the shot of Lu between Mom and Dad’s legs, where she’s kicking her leg up like she’s the star of a chorus line. She is SO full of personality!

Adorable Liam is already 8 months old, and isn’t he so hilarious?! He’s got gorgeous dark blue eyes, and chubby cheeks with a dimple that he lets me see every so often. He got pretty mad each time we tried to take his toys away at the studio, so we had to be fast! He LOVES his mommy, and would rather be in her lap than anywhere else in the world. I just couldn’t believe Mr. John Robert was due for his 8 month session already — and isn’t he to die for?!!?! His hair has gotten so light, but he has the same adorable little mouth and button nose that he’s had since he was born. He looks like such a little boy to me, and he is the happiest little guy ever. He is ALWAYS smiling. He got super vocal at the end of the session, I think he was loving the attention and felt like talking to us about how happy he was. I love him SO MUCH!!!

This sweet family is leaving New Orleans for a new post for Mom and Dad, so we squeezed in Hayes’ 1 year session at about 9 months old (we did his 8 month studio session just a couple of weeks ago, that blog post is just a few down!). Since they loved their time here in NOLA, they requested the family session we do at the end of the Baby’s First Year package to be down in the Quarter. It was super-crowded and hot, but we got great shots and Hayes was in the best mood ever! He’s teething like crazy, so it was a toss up — but he was nothing but smiles! I will miss seeing him!!
