After a loooooong hiatus on the blog, we’re finally back! We’ve been SOOO busy creating beautiful portraiture for families since our last post in July, we got too busy to blog! So we’re hiring additional help so that we can manage it all. 🙂 The next few posts are going to let you in on all the new things going on at Olivia Grey Pritchard Photography! First off, you’ll see a new look to our site, blog, and marketing materials. We hired the amazing Katie Loerts of Katie Loerts Design to create a new interpretation of our brand. The most important thing I wanted the new design to convey were our standards of simple and timeless beauty and our commitment to excellence. I think Katie’s design beautifully illustrates these principles!
The new logo was just one part of the many new things we are doing at the studio to refine both our craft and the way we do business. We are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality images, experience and products, and we will continue to invest in every area to provide that. This year, we have invested in enlarging our studio space, a new continuous lighting system for the studio that newborns and babies prefer to strobe (flash) lighting, our new brand look, remodeling our studio viewing space, and an amazing private mentoring class with the world-renowned Julia Kelleher of Jewel Images. I traveled to Oregon to spend several inspiring days with Julia and some model newborns in Julia’s lovely studio so that I could bring back such timeless, beautiful studio newborn portraiture to the heart of New Orleans. More on that later! For now, please enjoy our new look and new logo!

Big sister Lea was turning two, and baby sister Penelope was nearly on her way into the world for this session! It was a beautiful session with one of my favorite families, and this time they had a second pup to add to the mix. Lea was one of my very first Baby’s First Year babies when I opened my studio just before she was born — she was a tiny newborn and is still the most adorably petite little girl! I hope she never grows too big. 🙂 Look for newborn Penelope on the blog soon!
This couple is so fun to be around, and I love spending time with them. They love each other so much! They are super-excited for their baby on the way, and are waiting until it’s born to find out the gender. Isn’t mama Bridget just so, so lovely? They’re moving before baby arrives, so we took some pictures that not only showed them, but featured their first home, too. This was such a great session, and I’m lucky enough to photograph the baby’s birth and then a newborn session for this sweet family, too!
I always feel this way about babies. Their love is entirely unconditional, given freely with no judgement. There are very few things in this world, I’ve found, that can make you feel warmer and fuzzier inside than a baby who makes eye contact with you and then gives you a big, gummy grin. It makes my heart stutter every time a client comes in for a Baby’s First Year session and gives me a big smile, though I often haven’t seen them in four months. I have such an amazing job. Thank you to my parent clients who allow me to capture their children’s lives. It is such a joy!
So, the clients I’ve had who are from Texas are SERIOUS about being from Texas. Fo’ real. If you don’t believe me, check out the next-to-last picture here. That’s Texas Soil in that jar, and it’s packed up in the Go Bag for the hospital. Baby might be being born in NOLA (which her parents also love), but there will be Texas dirt in that labor and delivery room, too!!! We also worked the first 4-legged baby into these pictures, which I love to do. The one where she’s BARKING at Abby’s belly is, seriously, one of my favorites ever!!! I am very interested to see what she’ll think of the baby when I head over there soon for our newborn session! 🙂
Nikki is one. hot. mama. Seriously, I had so much fun at this maternity session! When I arrived, she had so many wardrobe choices for me to choose from laid out on the bed. After looking around at her beautiful home and talking some ideas over with her, I laid out what I wanted to use and had her put on the first outfit. We even worked little Dolce the Pup into some shots, since she’s her mama’s baby, too! She was HILARIOUS, and I confused her so much with putting her somewhere like the sofa and then squatting down to shoot the picture — every time I took a knee she thought I was calling her to come play, of course! 🙂
So you’ll never believe it from these pictures, but this mama was TWO DAYS AWAY FROM HER DUE DATE when we took these. Seriously, she came in for her pre-session consultation for her Baby’s First Year package just 3 days before she was due, and I happened to have a last-minute cancellation for a maternity session for the following day. Normally I would never suggest doing a maternity session so late in a pregnancy, but this petite mama showed up in heels and a dress that wasn’t even maternity wear!!! Truly, it’s unbelievable. She said she had had such a wonderful and smooth pregnancy, and was really going to miss being pregnant. So I suggested doing a maternity session the next day, and it worked out PERFECTLY! I love the shot of mama’s charm bracelet that they bought for the baby, and I love their first 4-legged baby, Clancy!!! I’m so glad we got to add these in, Fran, and I can’t wait to meet Bebe when he/she arrives!!! 🙂
I absolutely ADORE the images from this maternity session! Mama looks beautiful, and I love the family together. Big-sister-to-be Ruby is now one of my favorite kiddos ever — after hanging out with her for only 45 minutes. She’s AWESOME. And HILARIOUS. I mean, REALLY hilarious. I can’t wait to see her at the newborn session coming up in a few weeks and hear what she has to say about her little sister. I’m also looking forward to meeting this bebe and finding out her name! 🙂
Isn’t this mommy-to-be so lovely? This couple braved the heat because they really wanted to do their session outdoors, and it’s not like you can really put off a maternity session until the weather cools off! I promised them we’d move quickly and that I could Photoshop sweat. 🙂 Things went so smoothly we were done after about 30 minutes and no worse for wear in the heat. Mom is an Irish dance instructor, and she’s just all belly, still tiny everywhere else. I think she’s so absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to meet this beautiful baby!!!
Miss Isabella, one of my favorite little kiddos, has a baby brother or sister on the way! We had a great family maternity session with the added bonus of fluffy dandelions to play with. Isa likes picking flowers, but she was a little confused by the whole blow-on-them-and-the-seeds-float-away aspect. She is super-busy and very independent, and constantly refusing to hold hands or daddy’s finger. She can walk by herself, thank you very much!!! I can’t wait to see whether she ends up with a brother or sister. She is going to be a GREAT big sister!!!
