brand new year, brand new LOGO! {New Orleans photographer}

After a loooooong hiatus on the blog, we’re finally back!  We’ve been SOOO busy creating beautiful portraiture for families since our last post in July, we got too busy to blog!  So we’re hiring additional help so that we can manage it all. 🙂  The next few posts are going to let you in on all the new things going on at Olivia Grey Pritchard Photography!  First off, you’ll see a new look to our site, blog, and marketing materials.  We hired the amazing Katie Loerts of Katie Loerts Design to create a new interpretation of our brand. The most important thing I wanted the new design to convey were our standards of simple and timeless beauty and our commitment to excellence.  I think Katie’s design beautifully illustrates these principles!

The new logo was just one part of the many new things we are doing at the studio to refine both our craft and the way we do business.  We are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality images, experience and products, and we will continue to invest in every area to provide that.  This year, we have invested in enlarging our studio space, a new continuous lighting system for the studio that newborns and babies prefer to strobe (flash) lighting, our new brand look, remodeling our studio viewing space, and an amazing private mentoring class with the world-renowned Julia Kelleher of Jewel Images.  I traveled to Oregon to spend several inspiring days with Julia and some model newborns in Julia’s lovely studio so that I could bring back such timeless, beautiful studio newborn portraiture to the heart of New Orleans.  More on that later!  For now, please enjoy our new look and new logo!

waiting for penelope… {New Orleans maternity photographer}

Big sister Lea was turning two, and baby sister Penelope was nearly on her way into the world for this session!  It was a beautiful session with one of my favorite families, and this time they had a second pup to add to the mix.  Lea was one of my very first Baby’s First Year babies when I opened my studio just before she was born — she was a tiny newborn and is still the most adorably petite little girl!  I hope she never grows too big. 🙂  Look for newborn Penelope on the blog soon!

waiting for a baby Texan-at-Heart…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

So, the clients I’ve had who are from Texas are SERIOUS about being from Texas.  Fo’ real.  If you don’t believe me, check out the next-to-last picture here.  That’s Texas Soil in that jar, and it’s packed up in the Go Bag for the hospital.  Baby might be being born in NOLA (which her parents also love), but there will be Texas dirt in that labor and delivery room, too!!!  We also worked the first 4-legged baby into these pictures, which I love to do.  The one where she’s BARKING at Abby’s belly is, seriously, one of my favorites ever!!!  I am very interested to see what she’ll think of the baby when I head over there soon for our newborn session! 🙂

waiting for baby boy…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

Nikki is one. hot. mama.  Seriously, I had so much fun at this maternity session!  When I arrived, she had so many wardrobe choices for me to choose from laid out on the bed.  After looking around at her beautiful home and talking some ideas over with her, I laid out what I wanted to use and had her put on the first outfit.  We even worked little Dolce the Pup into some shots, since she’s her mama’s baby, too!  She was HILARIOUS, and I confused her so much with putting her somewhere like the sofa and then squatting down to shoot the picture — every time I took a knee she thought I was calling her to come play, of course! 🙂

waiting for their first…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

So you’ll never believe it from these pictures, but this mama was TWO DAYS AWAY FROM HER DUE DATE when we took these.  Seriously, she came in for her pre-session consultation for her Baby’s First Year package just 3 days before she was due, and I happened to have a last-minute cancellation for a maternity session for the following day.  Normally I would never suggest doing a maternity session so late in a pregnancy, but this petite mama showed up in heels and a dress that wasn’t even maternity wear!!!  Truly, it’s unbelievable.  She said she had had such a wonderful and smooth pregnancy, and was really going to miss being pregnant.  So I suggested doing a maternity session the next day, and it worked out PERFECTLY!  I love the shot of mama’s charm bracelet that they bought for the baby, and I love their first 4-legged baby, Clancy!!!  I’m so glad we got to add these in, Fran, and I can’t wait to meet Bebe when he/she arrives!!! 🙂

waiting for ruby’s little sister…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

I absolutely ADORE the images from this maternity session!  Mama looks beautiful, and I love the family together.  Big-sister-to-be Ruby is now one of my favorite kiddos ever — after hanging out with her for only 45 minutes.  She’s AWESOME.  And HILARIOUS.  I mean, REALLY hilarious.  I can’t wait to see her at the newborn session coming up in a few weeks and hear what she has to say about her little sister.  I’m also looking forward to meeting this bebe and finding out her name! 🙂

waiting for isabella’s new baby…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

Miss Isabella, one of my favorite little kiddos, has a baby brother or sister on the way!  We had a great family maternity session with the added bonus of fluffy dandelions to play with.  Isa likes picking flowers, but she was a little confused by the whole blow-on-them-and-the-seeds-float-away aspect.  She is super-busy and very independent, and constantly refusing to hold hands or daddy’s finger.  She can walk by herself, thank you very much!!!  I can’t wait to see whether she ends up with a brother or sister.  She is going to be a GREAT big sister!!!

waiting for baby boy…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

I am even more excited than normal about the arrival of this little client, because I’m getting to photograph his birth!  It was a pleasure to shoot in this beautiful home, with such sweet people.  Mom and I hung out taking her individual images, and then Dad joined us for some as well.  Baby Boy has two big sisters, and everyone is excited about having a boy in the house!  His nursery is beautifully done, so calm and peaceful.  This session was really just a joy to shoot.  I LOVE my job!!!

briggs dermot’s birth day…{New Orleans birth photographer}

I know I’m posting out of order here since Briggs’ newborn session is a few posts below, but I’m trying to get caught up on the blog!!  As you can see, Briggs was beautiful from the moment he came out (and his mommy looked exactly like she does every other day, definitely NOT like she had just given birth!).  And then his sweet big sister Vera came to meet him and throw him his first birthday party with balloons, cupcakes, and presents!  Briggs also gave Vera a beautiful Corolle baby boy doll.  She was fascinated with him, and after being pretty quiet while she inspected him, she perked right up and talked to him constantly.  When they took him for his newborn exam, Vera asked, “Where’s Biggs Der-mut?” every 5 minutes until they brought him back.  It was so sweet, and he just contentedly slept right through it all.  I love this family, and I’m so glad they now number four!!!

waiting for baby f #2…{New Orleans maternity photographer}

Check out big sister Tabitha’s EXPRESSIONS…seriously, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more expressive, hilarious little girl!!!  She did NOT want to participate when I arrived and she had just been woken up from a nap, but after a little warm-up time, I was her new best friend.  We wanted her to put her ear on mama’s belly, so I pretended to do that myself and said the baby kicked my ear.  She was intrigued, and put her ear up…and then I nearly missed the following shots because I was laughing so hard!!!  I have no doubt who will be the boss in this family once baby #2 has arrived…
