My Vera Gray is nearly TWO years old, which makes me sigh…but the fact that she’s waiting on her little brother Briggs Dermot to arrive makes me cheer! Mama Brooke is still as gorgeous as can be, and we planned this maternity session to have some continuity with her last one. The look of these photos is a tad different, but the feel (intimate and personal) is the same — which is exactly how we wanted it! We got great family shots while Vera was awake (she is AMAZINGLY cooperative, especially for a nearly-2-year-old!) and then Dad went back to work and V went down for her nap. Then Brooke and I hung out and did some solo shots, which to no one’s surprise, are stunningly gorgeous. I seriously couldn’t pick which photos to put in this preview because they are all so wonderful. And then V woke up from her nap and asked for Aunt Livy. LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! She makes my heart flutter. I can’t wait to meet her brother!!!
Her mama and I could just about die over her naturally perfect 50’s hair flip, so perfectly showcased in the image below!!!
These guys came down from Hattiesburg for their session in the French Quarter! I think it’s obvious who wears the pants in this family — Princess “B”, the beautiful blonde. Her big brother is so sweet with her, and totally patient as she flits from place to place like a butterfly. He had plenty of ideas himself about taking pictures, and the silly pic below is courtesy of him — I love it! I had so much fun with you guys, Vanessa — thanks so much for coming down to NOLA to see me! 🙂
Sweet Gabriel’s mom contacted me because “he’s about to grow out of the age where he’ll still let me cuddle him, and I want to get photos of that before he does!” I love it when parents call with this kind of request. It is one of my favorite things to do: highlight a single relationship between a child and someone who loves him. When it’s a full session I can devote to just one relationship, we can spend all the best-light-time on it and create something really special. There are many more, Ann, and I can’t wait to show them to you!
There is something so undeniably sweet about this shot against the oak…
I love this one, mid-run!
Miss Vivi is a year and a half, and she is SO FUNNY. I love the first picture, where she is so tickled sitting on her daddy’s knee. Her mama got her beautiful dress, by the designer blu pony vintage, at Baby Bump Maternity and Children’s boutique on Magazine. It’s from their new spring/summer line that recently arrived, and Vivi looks like she could have stepped out of the 1920’s in her blue striped dress with lace detail. I LOVE it!!!! And I supremely love the last shot, where daddy and baby girl are perfectly in sync walking together, with Vivi’s little hand wrapped around one of Daddy’s fingers. I am so happy to have captured that moment!!
These two are so funny, VERY animated, and really hilarious. Big brother Ian is so full of questions, it’s hard to get the complete answer out for the first one before he’s on to the next! I love curious kiddos! 🙂 Some very sweet people at the park gave us some bread to feed the swans and ducks (the geese are scary!), and it got so chilly by the end of the session we were all freezing — though the kiddos noticed it the least, I think! They were so good all the way through the session. Mom did a fantastic job on clothing…we talked about it at the pre-session consultation, and she went out and found the perfect pieces. Aren’t they adorable (kids and clothes)? 🙂
This one is just so them:
This is my cousin Hayden — we took pictures in Charlotte while I was there in January. She’s crazy, silly, and beautiful all rolled into one. I have to tell her not to smile for a few because I love her solemn face, and I posted one of those images a few posts below in both color and black and white. Here she really is, though, in all her animated glory! Love you, sweet girl!!! (Hayden is wearing Ralph Lauren flutter sleeve blouse and gray cardigan with skinny jeans — the perfect look for this age’s photos!!)
This SUPER-FUN session with Mom, Dad, adorable twin boys and a pup was SO much fun. I brought some kiddo face-paint because I knew these little guys were at a perfect age for painting mama’s belly. The twins are HILARIOUS and just totally awesome to be around! We got some family shots, some (clean) belly shots, and then we painted away. Jack was a little camera-shy and NOT into being “dirty” (he wouldn’t even let Mama hold him with paint dried on her hands!), but after awhile, and with some candy, we got a sweet peppermint-drooly shot of him below. Katie, you have such a great family, and I can’t wait to meet your third little man in a few weeks!
Here’s one little peek at today’s session — I wanted to put it up before all the family members head back out of town. These cousins were all together here to spend Christmas at their grandparents’, who are close family friends — and since they are all very rarely in the same place at the same time, I stopped over to get it on camera. There are plenty more, guys, but this one was one of my absolute favorites! I had fun with you today!
So this session was a last-minute addition that I worked into my schedule because once I heard the reason behind the request, I couldn’t say no. Nola, this awesome family’s beloved 7-year-old mastiff, is ill with a not-so-good prognosis. She’s still feeling like herself now, though, and since she’s truly a member of the family, Mom Erin called me because she wanted “to capture the special relationship she has with us, especially our daughter, while she’s still feeling good.” Well, I can understand that — my 10-year-old pug and my 2-year-old St. Bernard mix are my babies. And I would feel the same way about having beautiful, professional images of us, especially in such circumstances. 4-(and-a-half!)-year-old Ysonde LOVES her big sister, and the two of them are so fun to watch together. That’s the thing about giant dogs…they can be the gentlest of all, especially with their little people. Nola loves her family members, and has a special relationship with each of them. With Dad she’s rambunctious and playful, with Ysonde she’s loving and gentle, with Mom she’s relaxed and sweet…and I LOVE what we captured.
Sweet, tranquil Eli was such a good baby during his newborn session. He was awake for much of it, but didn’t cry a bit, just looked at me or his mama with those big, solemn eyes. I cuddled him in between shots and chatted with his mama, whom I love visiting with, it was like we were old friends when we first met at her maternity session! I absolutely adore the shot of Mama and Eli…it’s one of the sweetest shots I’ve ever gotten with mama and baby at a newborn session. So peaceful and calm…
